Mia Campbell | Connected Au

In early 2020 I founded Connected AU, a business with a mission to fight loneliness. My flagship program The Letterbox Project grew rapidly and with the growth, an interest in media surged. I was quietly confident that I would be able to handle any media opportunities, given my background as a lawyer and my natural love for speaking, I presumed these skills would translate well to the media. I quickly realised that the media is a very unique ‘space’ and that I had no transferrable skills. The media opportunities came and went and I did not use any of the opportunities well, I did not convey my message appropriately, I did not understand how to interact or engage with the media to obtain a desired outcome.

Towards the end of 2020 I began to completely decline all media requests because of the unease I was feeling towards media engagement.

I welcomed a major corporate sponsor for my flagship program and with that sponsorship came the need for media visibility. I reached out to Georgie as I was really familiar with the work she had done with Buy From the Bush. She was quick to jump on board and quick to improve EVERYTHING. Georgie and Zelda helped me understand and craft my message,  helped me understand how to capitalise on any media opportunity and really get my message to the viewers.

In 5 months Georgie has secured features in multiple national outlets including a 7 page feature in Country Style, Women’s Weekly, Vogue Magazine, The Age, The Morning Show, The Today Show, Sky News, Studio Ten to name a few. IN addition to multiple radio interviews and podcasts. So far we are up to over 300 media mention and close to 18 million views.

The growth for Connected AU following these features has been incredible and Georgie and Zelda do it all with a wonderful and friendly manner, they become part of the team and have been game-changing for Connected AU.
